Dyson DC24 Vacuum Cleaner - Lightweight Alternative:
The Dyson DC24 offers the lightest and most compact vacuum in Dyson's line-up. This vacuum model is based upon the successful “Ball” design which allows the head and base off the vacuum to pivot and turn with a twist of the wrist. The design allows the vacuum to easily maneuver around furniture and tight spaces with ease.
At just under 12 lbs., the Dyson DC24 vacuum cleaner is lightweight, but offers a powerful punch for household cleaning. The motorized brushbar can be switched on and off at the base of the handle for quick transitions from carpet to hard floor surfaces. This feature helps protect delicate hard floor surfaces, where a powered brush bar is not required.
We find the DC24 slightly quieter than the other Dyson models. The buttons are clearly marked, and usability is improved over older models. The foot lever used for parking the vacuum is also redesigned from previous models. When looking at Dyson vacuums, the higher the model number, the newer the model. Therefore, higher model numbers generally have new or improved design features over older models.

Is the DC24 Dyson vacuum for me?
The DC24 vacuum offers the consumer an ultra compact Dyson upright with the typical design features found in most Dyson upright vacuums, including; (5) Five year warranty, clear bin, hygienic and quick to empty, no extra bag or filter costs. If weight is a major factor in your decision, this the strong point for the DC24, along with simplified operation.
Other comparable compact models such as the DC18 & DC25 Dyson vacuums offer larger clear bins, stronger suction, and wider brushbars for a larger cleaning path. This makes the DC24 vacuum a strong seller for those requiring a lightweight vacuum for apartments, area rugs, hard floor surfaces, RV’s, or owners looking for a lightweight second vacuum for quickly cleaning messes or cleaning in confined areas. The DC24 can also be used a replacement for broom vacs.
