Miele Callisto S5281 Canister Vacuum

We reviewed many vacuums before buying the Callisto. I wanted to change to a canister as our home has more hard floors. My mother inlaw uses a canister and swears by it versus more bulky upright vacuums. I guess everyone realizes that to get a truly good vacuum anymore, you have to spend more than $100.00 or $200.00 dollars. I think of all the money we have thrown away in 2 year old vacuums that end up in the junk. Multiply by 8 or 10 years and that is $1000.00 worth of vacuums that went to the dump. So, back to why we chose the Callisto. It seemed that the model had everything we wanted in a new canister. HEPA filtration was a main concern. We recently read on a website that Miele's are the lowest or one of the lowest emission vacuums available. After speaking with the salesperson, they too felt the Callisto was the right vacuum for our home and assured us of the Miele quality and sealed design that prevents dust and emissions from getting into the air in our home. It took a few calls before I purchased the unit and made a final decision, but we are more that happy after using it for a few weeks. Our house actually feels cleaner. My mother inlaw was right about canisters, they are easier to clean with. It takes getting use to the canister being behind you, but is is so much easier and lighter to lift up the cleaning head and reach around funiture, stairs, the litter box, etc. The vacuum came with a power head and floor brush and both are perfect for our needs. OH, almost forgot, it is so quiet, but really powerful. I can hear the phone ring and even listen to the TV when I am cleaning:-) We score a 5 out of 5 star rating. This is truly worth the money and "built like a fine car" - so my husband says - a retired Cadillac employee, guess he should know :-)
