Miele vacuums come in either canister form or upright vacuums. Different home types require a different style of vacuum. The range of Miele vacuums is distinct by series number. For example, the Miele canister vacuums are currently offered in three series levels, the S2, S4, and S5. The S2 series of Miele canister vacuums feature AirClean construction, they are compact, and offer clip-on tools. The S4 Series offers a stronger sealed system construction and come with non-electric hoses, meaning that they do not use powerbrushes, but rather, air driven brushes. The S5 Series offers electronic controls, a stronger sealed system, tools integrated directly on the body, and most come standard with electric powerbrushes. You might require a powerbrush if you have mostly wall to wall carpeting throughout the home, a Miele canister vacuum with an electric hose and powerbrush is probably the best Miele canister choice for you.
Many customers seeking a canister have difficulty deciding between an S2 canister or an S5 canister. The S5 models use natural bristle brushes, whereas the S2 models utilize synthetic brushes. The S5 models use premium tools, while the S2 models use standard tools. The S5's offer more aggressive cleaning as well as conveniences that the S2 series machines do not offer. Examples include: fully integrated accessories, 3 park positions, larger operating radius, easier dustbag and filter changes, and additional indicators. If you prefer an upright vacuum, Miele offers homeowners their S7 Series. The S7 upright vacuums come equipped with a swivel neck feature that is unparalleled to any other upright vacuum. The S7 upright vacuums can lay nearly flat on the floor without lifting the brush head from the floor's surface, maintaining constant contact and suction, while clearance under furniture and beds is a breeze. While laying flat against the floor, the Miele S7 upright is a slim 7.5", half the height of other uprights when laid flat on the floor. Plus, with a 54' operating radius, you can clean an entire room without the need to move the cord to another outlet. Additionally, the HEPA filtration system and sealed system construction promote clean air in your home in addition to simply removing dirt from the floor. A variable speed motor on the Miele uprights provides different speeds for different floor types, which is a feature you rarely see on other industry standard upright vacuums. The Miele S7 Uprights also come standard with an LED head lamp for maximum visibility.
Changing bags in a Miele vacuum is easy and hygienic. The Miele vacuums use a 9 layer, cloth, pillow-shaped bag to collect dust without releasing a single micron back to the environment. These bags are able to do this via a self-sealing mechanism within the bag. Miele bags are color coded to assist in purchasing the right bag for your model.
